Your dog can be your best friend, but on occasion their manners leave a little to be desired. It can be difficult to teach your dog better manners if you have never been confronted with these issues before. This type of matter can make you slightly irritated to extremely anxious. Below we will offer some suggestions on the most prevalent behavior issues with dogs and the best ways to take care of them.

One of the more annoying habits that a dog can have is jumping on people with their paws. If your dog does not like the person that it is doing this to, this can cause some major difficulties. Usually this starts early on when the puppy jumps up in a playful manner. At this stage, it is cute and usually okay. The only problem is, if this type of behavior is allowed to persist, although cute, it will develop into a very bad habit later on in life.

Don't try to push the dog away, as this will be interpreted as playing. It's best to turn to the side with your body so the dog can't get its paws on your chest. The basic "sit" command can be helpful here, and you should praise the dog for sitting. A dog can be trained out of jumping, and its best to do this at as young an age as possible.

When you are out for a leisure walk with your pooch, is he yanking on the leash nonstop? When you are leading your dog with a leash, does he try to drag you along? This could appear like a trivial thing. Do not minimize the condition; it could grow into something more severe. The awful things that could occur if your dog got off the leash could range from a dog fight to getting hit by a car. Dogs pulling things for people have been going on for many, many years. Persistence can get the job done. Never let your dog take control on your walks; you should always be the one in control. Come to an abrupt halt when your dog is straining on the leash. Stay in place and walk on once your dog has stopped along with you.

One of the most common dog behavior problems is separation anxiety. Dogs that are left alone all day may display different kinds of behavior that show how unhappy they are. Continual barking, going potty inside or chewing on things, are common signs that your dog has separation anxiety. A further indicator is that your dog acts sad, either when you are about to leave or even when you arrive home. This is a hard thing to fix and it might take a lot of training and behavior modification. Be sure that you leave some toys out for them to play with or chew on, plus keeping the radio on may be helpful. One option, which isn't always convenient, is to get a second animal who can be a friend to your dog. Dogs may display all sorts of ill favored issues and we have just mentioned some of the most pronounced. In most cases, if your dog exhibits bad tendencies; there is an avenue you can follow for excellent results. Dogs normally wish to please and if they are not meeting our standards; it is probably because we are not getting our message through to them. It basically does not matter whether or not you train your dog yourself or you get help from the experts; most issues can be treated by simply common sense and persistence.
